What is the best aftermarket A/C?

What is the most efficient aftermarket system on the market? I live in the midwest where the summers are smokin' hot. I would like to add an A/C unit which will keep me cool while draining as little power as possible.
I'm sure this has been asked before but with the everchanging world of aftermarket parts, its worth asking again!
Thanks,
Tim

That sounds good but where do you get a factory system? My car has never had A/C. Are there complete factory systems available with installation instructions? Any advice would be appreciated!

I put a vintage air in mine but I have no idea how it works as the car is not running yet although I have heard good things...was a good install although the instructions were vague in certain respects...if you go this route I'll tell ya what to look for

I put a Vintage Air sure fit in my daughters 69 four years ago. It works great. The only problem I've had with it has been the factory dash switch went out and had to be replaced. It will freeze you out in such a small interior (even in august ,with Alabama humidity) . Her car is her daily driver !

The Classic Auto air is the best choice.
Here are pics and instructions.

hit the boneyards and find the parts. i'm sure it doesn't have to be from a Camaro- except for the controls and dash vents, Chevelle setups are probably about the same, and i know most 68-74 Nova parts will work.
hell, find a Camaro owner that decided to "upgrade" his factory AC setup to an aftermarket setup and buy all the discarded parts.
a little wheelin and dealin, and you could piece it all together for next to nothing.

Re: What is the best aftermarket A/C?

Actually the Vintage Air Gen IV kicks the doo doo out of any other systems for Camaros right now. We should know we have sold and installed them all. We are unbiased as we still sell both Classic and Vintage.
