Which side for the foam block when switching to bb H. Core?

When switching to a bb heater core from small block, you have that rectangular piece of foam used to block of the old holes in the firewall for the sb core tubes. Is it better for that block to go on the interior side of the fire wall or engine side?
Thanks

The interior side like this, and I like to use spray cement on the inside of the firewall first.

Also, I checked out your album, awesome motor and cool car!
