Braided Hose Sizes?

I am wanting to put braided steel hoses on my 69 with a 350. What size hose do I need for the upper and lower radiator hoses and the heater hoses?
I don't know the conversion for the AN sizes.
Thanks

Re: Braided Hose Sizes?

I use -16 for the upper, -20 for the lower, and -10 for the heater.

The thermostat housings I have found are mostly -16, and the -20 stuff is a lot more money. All you need for the upper is -16.

I used -10 bungs soldered to the heater core.

I have pics if you're interested.

Re: Braided Hose Sizes?

The conversion is fairly simple.
The -number is how many 16th of an inch.
So -4 is 4/16" or 1/4"
And dash -16 is 16/16" or 1"

I thought the upper hose was larger than 1" and the heater hoses aren't they 2 different sizes.

The upper hoses on most race cars including Nascar are -16, so it's plenty big. The heater hoses can both be -10 even though stock rubber sizes of course are 5/8 and 3/4.

Eke, I will email some pics.

Re: Braided Hose Sizes?

Sure 1" is big enough, I agree. I was just saying I think the stock ones are larger.
