68 camaro dual electric fans

car overheated today as the fans didnt turn on, im not sure why they didnt turn on after fooling with some wires etc the fans did eventually turn on and i drove it to work etc as the car didnt over heat again.

The issue is im concerned if the car over heated once than it will do it again, is there a way to rule out the sensor or switch module being the colprit? The fans work thus im thinking maybe i should replace the sensor oart of the set up?

Re: 68 camaro dual electric fans

well it be to much to run a regular fan and 2 electric fans just in case the electric fans have a problem again this way at least you have a fan on to prevent over heating?

I run duel fans one runs by the sensor aand the other runs off a switch in the car.Works great if the switch does not work the straight power to the other swicth works.

I know someone that installed an override switch just in case that put power straight to the fans.

If you're doing this with out a relay make sure the switch will handle the load.

Re: 68 camaro dual electric fans

hmm the fans have been turning on lately etc , i think the maybe an alternative power source with a switch as you are suggesting will help just in case for back up power is a good idea, a basic auto electrician should be able to assist thanks.
