Who makes the best belts?

Just wondering who makes the best belts? Just snapped an alternator belt, and want a more quality belt. Any info is appreciated.

Re: Who makes the best belts?

What did you have before? NAPA's belts are made by Gates which have been good in the past.

Re: Who makes the best belts?

Steiner,

Had repro date coded belts from Ricks, was out on a 200 mile round trip cruise and 2 of my belts were turned, and the alternator belt snapped.

Re: Who makes the best belts?

I've had the same GM belts on my car for over 20 years - granted, not a ton of miles - and they're still in excellent shape. But not numbers matching date correct....just GM OTC.

I'd suspect pulley alignment or belt tension problems, unless the repro belts are just junk.

Some will suggest a Dayco top-cog belt, but not necessary in my opinion if everything's up to snuff.
