Installing Vintage Air with smooth firewall

I have welded up the firewall in my 67 and want to install a Vintage Air Gen IV SureFit system. I have read about people installing the system and running the hoses through the through the old fan blower hole and then up under the fender on the passenger side.

I have searched old threads and have found many threads on the subject but nothing that lays it all out. Also nothing showing the finished product (including what it looks like on the inside).

Can anyone point me to where I can find detailed information on all that is needed to do this type of installation? Hopefully including many pictures and detailed instruction on how to attach and route the hoses.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Matt

Re: Installing Vintage Air with smooth firewall

The last 69 I did we put the bulkhead in the firewall behind the fender. I am doing another one and the firewall is already smooth too. We are going to use rubber grommets for each hose. This way you have no connections on the firewall to leak.

Look under my photobucket under Marks car for some pictures.

Mike,

Thanks for the pictures. Those help. I really want to see what it looks like on the inside when it is all done. Do you reinstall the kick panel? If so, what modifications do you make to it for the hoses?

Re: Installing Vintage Air with smooth firewall

I cut the upper metal on the body inside the car so the hoses would fit better. I cut it about 2-1/2" up then lined the lip of the metal with some rubber hose so it would not cut the new hoses.

I had to trim some of the upper kick panel also for it to fit right. I cut the back off the kick panels because we do not use the vents anymore and it made them easier to install.
