Heater Contol repair

Anyone have any experiance with these kits that repair the heater control? One of my knobs has broken off flush with the faceplate. I have seen kits that claim to repair this. Not sure about how effective they are. Thanks

Very effective... I worked mine over with one of these kits. I don't use the controls at all, but the kit wasn't cheezy or anything. I think I got it from Rick$. I'm sure if done right, it'll last as long as the factory assembly.
The replacement knobs you can get look slightly different from factory, but they're shiny!

Re: Heater Contol repair

Thanks, I have a heater control unit on backoder from Ricks and this thing has been broke since I bought the 69 Camaro in '72. Does the control need to be dissembled or can the device be installed while it is in place?

Re: Heater Contol repair

Well, it doesn't really have to come apart completely. You could probably repair it hanging out of the dash if you're careful. If you're just replacing one or two 'arms', you just need to drill out the rivets at their pivot points and install the new arm(s) with the supplied hardware.
Use a lot of rags and blankets to cover the dash while you're squirting lube inside it to free everything up.
Then just work it baby... work it.
(sorry... strange television quote)
