VA Gen IV installed - interior hose routing pics

Just got home from installing my VA Gen IV into my 69. I know I have done searches and have seen others ask for the interior shots of the hose routing through the firewall and kick panel. So here are some shots. My car was an original a/c car and I used my original kick panels. Plus I used a piece that I had gotten from Frank at Prodigy Customs, I believe it actually is for a chevelle. My firewall is smoothed so I added some pics of how I mounted the unit. I installed the hoses from the engine bay side because it would have been a pain to get the a/c lines with the H and L pressure fittings through the grommets. The unit, kick panel and other kick panel piece needs to go in all at once. The original kick panel first needed to have the backside vent box trimmed off. The other panel piece fits into the opening with a little trimming. It doesn't look very professional but maybe it will spur you guys to build a better mouse trap. In the future when I get to updating my interior I will have to come up with a cleaner look. Maybe use a panel without any vent holes and drill holes just for the large grommets.

Good job.
I just completed mine and had it charged last weekend.
I used the DSE bolt in closeout panel though and ran all hoses in where the blower would be, just as you did.

Thanks Ted. I'll be doing this exact same thing with the 68 soon. These pics will help alot.

Ditto. I just received the VA boxes and will start the project in the next week or so. I'll try to take lots of picks and post them here.

Hey Greg,

I smoothed out my firewall except for the blower hole, do you have the part number to the cover? thanks

Armando, do you need the cover that just blocks off the hole or the plastic one with the 4 grommets? I have both, but the one would be minus the grommets if you need one.

Re: VA Gen IV installed - interior hose routing pics

Armando, Ted answered but my option is without a smoothed firewall.
Bolt in plate DSE 10902.
My VA panels that came in the kit, I threw to the side.
I did however dress down the upper factory seam though.

"DSE"?

I should probably know what that is but a google search came up with nothing.

Ted,

I'm thinking I'm gonna need the one with the 4 grommets. Where can I find the replacement grommets?!?

You can get them from Vintage Air or Frank from Prodigy Customs. I think they are a kit for Chevelles but I'm not positive. Talk to Frank. It'll probably come together (cover and grommets).
