Heater core plumbing

I'm about to reinstall the heater box in my 67. It had no core or hoses when I bought it, my question is does it matter how I plumb it? The reason for my question is one of the copper pipes on the heater core is larger than the other. I have a plugged off port on my water pump and one on the intake. Thanks in advance.

Re: Heater core plumbing

The larger hose (3/4") goes from the waterpump to larger copper pipe on the heater core (should be the top one)

This part....caution...
1st the pipes are usually a little short...check that they have enough length to make slipping the hoses on easy....reason..so one doesnt stress the soldered joints at the base.
2nd. make sure that the pipes are soldered in a position that line up with the holes to the engine bay...again if not stress on the solder joints.
If u need to bend /align, line up the pipes, remove and re melt/solder the pipes in that position.
It is very common to install heater and 6 months or even a yr later end up with radiator fliud under your carpet....take the time to advoid such a common happening.
And it is very worth while the effort to put longer pipes on.

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative
