Lower radiator hose size both ends 1.75"?

I have a factory style radiator with a 350 motor out of a 74 Chevy something.
The lower radiator hose has always leaked at the pump and I might have just found out why. The current flex hose is 2" ID at the water pump and 1.75" at the radiator.
Seems like both ends should 1.75", is this correct?
Thanks

OE design lower hose is stepped up at the water pump.
Two inch diameter and 1 3/4 inch diameter at the rad tank outlet.
Reason for water pump connection leaking could be severe deep rust pits and not enough hose 'softness' to seal the pits.
You might move the hose clamp up to and beside the barb of the pump inlet allowing the clamp to seal the hose about the barb rather than the flat stem of the inlet.
Applying Permatex #2 or gasket shellac/sealer to the inside of the hose doesn't hurt either.

Re: Lower radiator hose size both ends 1.75"?

Thanks for the input. I just measured at the pump and it is 1.75 and a little rusted. I could not find a molded hose locally so places like Auto Zone all said that the computer called for 1.75" on both ends of a flex hose so I got one to try. The hose I had with a 2" end slid up and down very easily with no resistance at the pump so I am hoping the 1.75" might do the trick.
