Champion radiator and hood

I am finishing up my rebuild on my 68. I purchased a 4 row aluminum radiator that was a direct for the Camaro. It bolted right up and fit well with the existing holes. Now that I have the fenders on it looks like the radiator cap is going to hit the hood. Has anyone used this radiator and can verify if it worked for them or it had to be moved down for clearance. I need to get some help over so I can test fit the hood but from what I see I don't think it is going to clear.

Re: Champion radiator and hood

I have the same radiator in my 68 and do not have any clearance issues.

Re: Champion radiator and hood

I pull a string side to side and across where the hood meets the fenders. The cap was at least 1/2" higher than the string so I know it would be above the hood. I was able to move it down pretty easy but had to bend the transmission cooling lines. I think they just had the mounting holes drilled in the wrong position. I moved it down about 1 1/4" so I know it will not have any clearance issues. I like the radiator and did not have the fenders on when I installed it so it did not anticipate this little problem.
