69 Z water pump replacement does not fit!

well long story short the reman pump I installed 12+ years ago just took a dump - literally, the bad is I have no miles on it - well better at home in driveway than on HRPT. so I have O'reilleys, Autozone, Napa and no one can get a reman! I bought a new one at Oreilleys, painted it and went to install it last night and it does not fit the new casting has the pump body closer to the timing cover so there is no room for the fuel pump line IM mean what the hell? i know its 40+ years old but this is a chevy long pump they used for alot more years - till mid 80's? every one has to order a reman and anywhere from 2-7 days. This is killing me! sorry this is more of a rant than a question but these mfrs need to know this great new W/P that they carry dont work AutoZone had the same brand new pump napa I havent seen yet but fear the same. this is friggin ridiculous

Re: 69 Z water pump replacement does not fit!

Can you get a rebuild kit for the pump and just do it yourself?

Experience...... It's what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

I'm all better now! found a independant auto parts that had a reman in couple hours and dang if it didnt fit like a glove. some times you dont need to re-invent the wheel
