Need help finding lower radiator hose.

I put a Griffin aluminum radiator in my car with a Stewart stage 2 water pump. The engine is a small block in a '67. I searched the forum and found a suggestion to make a template with a hanger and search the auto parts store. I found one that had a perfect shape but it had 1.5" opening on the radiator side and I need 1.75". The hose was a Dayco 70399.

Anyone have a recommendation on a hose I could try?

Re: Need help finding lower radiator hose.

If you don't care about a formed one, the universal flex fit 17" or 18" ones work fine and they're available with the anti-collapse spring. Gates makes a heavy duty one that Rock Auto carries and shows up under the first gen Camaro, don't know about the parts store.

Re: Need help finding lower radiator hose.

You should be able to get any hose you need for your car at any of the Camaro parts stores.

No lower hose available at regular local parts stores like NAPA, really?

Also, ask Griffin for their suggestions.

Re: Need help finding lower radiator hose.

Thanks for the suggestions. I would prefer to use a molded hose instead of a flex hose. I called Griffin and they suggested trying a big block hose. I will give it a try and see how it fits.

Also, is there suppose to be a spring in this lower hose?

Yes most lower hoses have a spring to keep the hose from collapsing.

Re: Need help finding lower radiator hose.

Just a thought but, if you have a hose that fits perfect except for the end diameters, take it to a good radiator shop that makes coolant tubes and have them make one out of aluminum and use the rubber connectors at the rad and pump. That would be the ultimate lower hose for a long time.
