BBC Fan Shroud Help

I purchased a fan shroud from Eckler's on Sunday. The moment I received the order confirmation showing it was for a 67-68 I shot off an email telling them I wanted a fan shroud for a 69. They did not read the email until Monday afternoon, but they sent me shipping notification on Sunday that it had shipped!
Can anyone help by letting me know (Before I open the box) if the fan shroud for a 67-68 BB is different and how it is different? If it's just not going to match up, I'll send it back and get the correct shroud. Part number that I received: 33-179739-1. Part number that Eckler's said is the one I would get for a 69: 33-379383

Thanks!

Brett.......

Re: BBC Fan Shroud Help

Shroud will be deeper on '67-'68 (long water pump) than a '69 with short water pump.

Re: BBC Fan Shroud Help

So it sounds like I do not have the correct water pump for a 69. Wonder if, since I have it all apart installing a new cam, if I should break down and put a short W/P on it and get the correct shroud. My fan is pretty close to the fan (approx. 1/2"), but it clears without concern. Something to contemplate......
Thanks Everett & Kevin!

Re: BBC Fan Shroud Help

The difference in the two shouds is to match the difference in the length of the two water pumps. You have a '69 water pump on your '69 Camaro so if that is a "69 shroud it should fit (having the fan half in half out of the shroud to maximize air flow). If the one you ordered was for a 1967-'68 it will bolt up, but your fan blades will be too far into the shroud for it to work efficiently.

Re: BBC Fan Shroud Help

1967 & 68 BBC used the short water pump. The 69 uses the long water pump.
Both my 67's (w/short pumps) have the blades about 1/2 the thickness of the blade pitch into into the shroud edge area.
I would think that a '67/68 shroud would allow the blades to be too deep into the shroud with a long pump.

Re: BBC Fan Shroud Help

69 big blocks ran long water pumps (811) like Michael mentioned. I would refuse the shipment and get the correct 69 shroud.

Mine with my born with shroud:

Re: BBC Fan Shroud Help

Dave,
Yes, I sent the wrong one back and will order the correct shroud. Thanks for the pics. I notice that I have the same fuel filter with return line on my engine, but my filter actually comes up on the other side (passenger) of the engine. I think when I bought mine, it was for a Vette. Could that be why? Also, I LOVE your valve covers! I found some as well. Actually are dated pretty old because on the inside it does not reference 454. They just say; Chevrolet 396-427 3276396. Only one dripper is broke.....

Brett...

Just saw this, may be a bit late but here's my setup. BBC 4-core radiator, Long Water Pump, and yeah... 454. Don't know how much will change when I install the VA Compressor, but of course the pulleys will. If you want me to measure anything, give me a shout.

Thanks Brett. I love my M/T covers too. I have three sets lol. My first set is my old set like you bought. I didn't want to mess with those so I bought another set to cut the drippers off to clear my roller rockers. I still need to polish them up a little, but I like the more dull aluminum look versus the shiny polish.
My filter is in the stock location in that pic, so if yours was for a Vette, that would make sense. Unfortunately I had to eliminate mine because I went with an electric pump.
