1969 heater box and fan mounting
I'm still trying to mount my heater box and blower motor, and I have a few questions-
To begin with, it's a standard heater box, non-ac. I understand that to mount the external box to the firewall (actually attached to the internal heater box) I need some specialty strip caulk sealant (which goes around the perimeter of the heater box) and five fabric/rubber washers for the internal heater box screws. I can get the sealant at a local auto parts store, so my first question is the fabric washers - Any recommendations on what to use, and the size/thickness I need? As near as I can tell, the washers are to help with keeping the sealant from completely squishing out when the screws are tightened. The local hardware store has some thick-ish rubber washers for faucet repair, and I'm also considering making some from a sheet of 1/32" cork gasket material I have laying around. I can see Ricks has a kit for $8.50, am I just better off buying that?
Second, is there any sort of gasket or sealant used when attaching the blower motor to the heater box? I've looked and looked and it doesn't seem like it.
Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated, thank you in advance.
