What model vintage/classic ac is this

I just bought a 69 camaro which was sold as having vintage air. When I was driving home the unit stopped working and that is when I noticed how badly the inside unit was put on. It seems to me either it was not for a 69 camaro or they put the unit in rotated wrong and just went with it. I looked on vintage air and classic air and have yet to see one that matches what I have. It would be nice to figure out what I have so that I can fix and adjust all the mistakes on install. If not I will have to buy an entire new evaporator and line set.

Thanks,
Kevin

Re: What model vintage/classic ac is this

The pictures do not help identify the brand of the evaporator

Itís a March Front Runner System that comes with a Sanden Compressor. It can be used with any ac system

I am trying to add more pictures but having issues. I know it is a march compressor but I wanted people to see the pressure safety valve on the line set. For some reason it does not like a few of the pictures I took for upload

Looks Like it might be a Vintage Air Gen II universal kit

Is installed onto the factory heater box?

Re: What model vintage/classic ac is this

Did you see the picture of the firewall? Also note the drain in relation to the pipes. I have not seen a unit that is like that through hours of searching. Seems I can only post 2 images before I run out of attachment space. I tried to make flickr links and they did not work. The control you can see screwed onto the side of the unit should be the fan motor speed switch I think. The factory controls worked barely before it broke. Here are a few more pictures via links since I can't figure out how to add more.

Re: What model vintage/classic ac is this

Yeah. Not for a 69 Camaro. Either some universal evaporator or for another make/model somebody hacked in.

I'd probably pull it and buy a Vintage Air Gen IV Evap Kit

Looks to me like the only things you can re-use is the compressor and maybe the condenser

Re: What model vintage/classic ac is this

The strange part is the glove box plastic insert and firewall plug both fit like they should. Makes me think unless evaporator went bad that some of it was from a true camaro kit. You are most likely right and that I should just lick my wounds and drop $900. Have you put one of these in before? If so how hard would it be and do I need anything special to release the refrigerant?

Thanks

Not hard to put in. Technically I guess epa depending on where you live requires you to capture. From a cost stand whether you lose it or save it the recharge cost will be about the same. Unless you have the equipment to do it yourself

Re: What model vintage/classic ac is this

Maybe when the seller said vintage air he was saying really old and not the brand?
