68 Camaro Temperature Sending Unit - Console Guages

I have tested my temp gauge and it appears to be operating properly, but when I start the motor and warm it up, when the water in the radiator gets to 160 degrees the gauge only shows about 1/4. I think I need a different sending unit.

I watched a video on you tube of a guy trouble shooting a temperature gauge for the 68 Camaro with console gauges and he said the correct sending unit should be a TU12.

Could anyone verify that and I will go purchase that part number.

Thanks

Lee

Lee, our 68ís used a sending unit with a push on pin type but not sure if that is a tu12 or not. Corvette houses like Paragon sell that 68 type so check that out. I show differences in design in my build thread if u search. But first note what u have both in sending unit and wiring attachment.

read post 6 in this thread. 1/4 on stock gauge is normal but can be changed

also check this post. It has a pic on one of the posts saying rough temp numbers for spots on a stock gauge and sending unit
