Heater box / core question

I have a 1969 Camaro non/AC that I am changing the core. It is a SB car, but decided to change to a BB setup to get the hoses away from the valve cover. I ordered a BB core, mounting clips and cover. The core fits inside the heater box, but the mounting clips wonít fit correctly. I ordered all BB parts, so very frustrated.

My question is there a difference between a SB and a BB heater box for the 69 Camaro?

Also Iím not the original owner and the car was in parts when I got it so not really sure if itís an original 69 box!

Yes there is a difference. The interior spacing is about 3/8 to 1/2 inch difference. There are pictures somewhere I posted on here years ago but I don't know exactly where they are. I don't have them on my hard drive any more or I'd repost them for you.

The only reason someone would want insurance is if they want to pay someone elses bills or want someone else to pay their bills.

Re: Heater box / core question

Did you see this thread. I believe he is doing the same conversion. This is a picture of how he cut the clips to work.

Re: Heater box / core question

I have been looking for pictures that show the difference, but no luck.
My box needs to be rebuilt, so looking to purchase a new one so that all fits with BB core and clips but I canít seem to find a place that sells different ones. Called Heartbeat city Camaro and bid not get a straight answer either. Donít mind spending the $300 bucks but just want all the correct parts!
