Temp Sensor Location

67, 327

Adding a temp gauge and keeping the stock "light" sensor on manifold.

Any concerns using the port on water pump vs intake manifold?

I could "T" the manifold but would rather not have that "plumbing" and just use the 1/8" NPT WP port for the gauge

I would highly question the accuracy of a WT sensor in a water pump. The "cool" water from the radiator is going into the water pump, then into the engine.....so you won't really be reading what the engine temp is. There is a reason GM put the temp sensor in the intake. Is the idiot light that important that you don't want to remove it?

No the idiot light is not critical but I would prefer to keep it.

I suspected the manifold temp is more "real" water temp vs WP....

I have a 1/2" T fitting I can use so both are from manifold

Adding oil pressure gauge also and was doing a T for that one on back of motor so the dash cluster light is also preserved. That sensor location is tucked behind motor so the extra "plumbing" is not a eyesore.

I will see if it looks to busy for water and if so will bail on the dash light function...
