Coolant Additive

Hi All,

I have 69 camaro with fresh built MKIV 427, aluminum radiator, aluminum intake, aluminum heads, and aluminum water pump. I am thinking to put "Summit Racing® Ice Water Coolant." Is it good staff? Should i add a bottle of "Lucas Super Coolant" or not? I am not worry about the antifreeze cuz i am in a place that the minimum temp in the winter is 36 degree. Lucas Super Coolant website mentioned that mix one bottle with 50/50 or 2 bottle with tap water, they do not recommend it with distilled water.

Re: Coolant Additive

I’ve tried a couple of the water wetter and other additives and observed no difference in operating temps.

Re: Coolant Additive

See guys at the track run water wetter, purple ice, and such.... anti-freeze is a no no due to track clean up if a spill happens. (but lots of street cars still do and isn't a problem)

Re: Coolant Additive

I know a few people who add a small amount of dish soap to the cooling system in their oval track cars. It basically acts the same as water wetter, breaking the water tension.

Yep, does the same for herbicides also.
Old timers put use to put a little diesel in the spray tanks, the oil helped break tension of the spray on the weeds

I ran a bottle of the Red Line water wetter. Don’t know if it’s any better but my car runs cool.
