Recommend an electric fan?

Hi, looking to purchase an electric fan for my 81 camaro w/454 bb. Does anyone have one they recommend? Not looking to break the bank, but not looking for “cheap” either.
Just a good solid electric fan.

Re: Recommend an electric fan?

Why not go with a original BB fan shroud and a 17" 7 blade clutch fan. . . .I have that combo on all 3 of my BB 69's with never an over heating issue.
flat tire and rp930 like this.

Well it seem like the motor mounts may be slightly high because apparently the previous owner couldn’t find a shroud to fit it. The fan is about 2-3 inches higher than the radiator. So figured instead of trying to rig something to fit it I’d just switch to an electric fan....?

Re: Recommend an electric fan?

OP

Most Electric fans draw at least 20 amps, some more, so you would also need to wire up a repay/fuse for it....and possibly get a larger output alternator if the new load combined with your other electrical draw exceeds or max out the output of your current alternator

Your fan blades being higher than your radiator...?, you have a BB radiator?

you running tall motor mounts...or a large diameter fan that makes it stick up so high?

IMHO a correct fan shroud and clutch fan with a good working radiator "should" be adequate but your current fan height issue is the curve ball.

How wide is your current fan?

Re: Recommend an electric fan?

I bought 2 x 30101522 spal, made my own shroud, and has no problem cooling my 800hp powerplant. I have one set for 190 degrees and the other for 210, the second has never came on(yes it works)
