Heater Control Head Disassembly?

Hi All, I'd like to replace my heater control lens and do some detail painting on the bezel but just found out the pot metal housing is very brittle. Just pulled on one tabs and it snapped very easily. Any thoughts on how to disassemble this unit? (also will be replacing the defrost lever while in there)

Yeah pot metal comes with its own special hell of will they bend or snap. I know keeping original parts is paramount for a lot of us, but the reproductions look good and are easy to get a hold of. Maybe just replace and retain the original in the parts collection if it is for pure cosmetic reasons you need to remove it.

Been there done that..... Look at your picture, there is a second set of tabs. After replacing the lens just work one side/corner of the new tabs over. Don't try and fold over the entire tab otherwise you'll be asking us what epoxy to use. Lol
