Headers - LS3 Swap

I have a 1968 Camaro that currently has original Straight Six in her, making plans to put in a LS3 and looking for what headers will fit with least amount of interference issues?

Re: Headers - LS3 Swap

Many factors involved. Are you putting engine in stock position or moving it forwards or back? What crossmember? Auto or manual tranny? Mechanical or hydraulic clutch?

Re: Headers - LS3 Swap

It will be an automatic, perhaps a 4L65E?

Should I assume that the following will put the engine in the stock location?
HOOKER BLACKHEART ENGINE MOUNT BRACKETS #12618HKR
HOOKER BLACKHEART HEAVY DUTY CLAMSHELL ENGINE MOUNTS #71221004HKR
HOOKER BLACKHEART TRANSMISSION CROSSMEMBER #12625HKR

Only that I can't verify the fit since I don't have.

MuscleMaxx Header Systems are designed to directly bolt-on without modifications. Constructed with 3/8" thick CNC laser cut and machine surfaced flanges, they provide a long lasting leak free seal. For use with straight or angle plug heads, multiple steering boxes, and automatic or manual transmissions. These headers provide excellent ground clearance when used with the factory engine mounts and stands. Available with Black painted finish or ceramic coated (inside and out) finish and with all hardware included. Ball and socket type collector reducer cones are included (except where noted) to connect the headers to a Dynatech MuscleMaxx Dual Exhaust System or other exhaust.

Re: Headers - LS3 Swap

Yup... Holley LS swap parts fit perfectly. I didnt even have to "massage" the headers. No floorpan mods either with my Mag T56. However, the ceramic coating SUCKED on the 3 sets of Hooker blackheart headers that Summit.

Re: Headers - LS3 Swap

X3 for the Holley swap stuff. Easiest part of the swap it did. Mounts, trans cross member and long tube headers. They sat nice and tight up in the subframe. No fab required.

X4 Holley. You will need many more parts before your headers. Plan accordingly!

Re: Headers - LS3 Swap

I went with and got the Hooker Blackhart Stainless ones but be for-warned what you will get is not what is represented on the Holley web page.

For the price they cost I was not happy, different flange and different welding.
