I have a 468bb with aggressive hydraulic roller cam, long tube hooker headers to a 3in exhaust, Flow Master Muffs.
Damn thing sounds like a dragster..... I love it, but neighbors and wife not so much.
The only thing I’d prefer to change is the mufflers, but only if I don’t lose a lot of HP.
Does anyone have any suggestion on quieter mufflers that don’t lose HP? 🤷♂️
Flowmaster makes a dozen different mufflers. Since we don’t know which series you have, I can only suggested one of their quieter ones. They can get pretty long though.
And run exhaust all the way out back.
I have Dynomax Super turbo mufflers behind my 461BBC and they do a great job of taming the noise. They flow very well and sound nice with no drone. I have a 3” exhaust as well. Tail pipes also help a lot with quieting things down. Part number 17792 is a true 3” muffler all the way through and is what I have on my car.
X 4 5 and 6 on the Dyno max super turbos. I have them on my 70 SS Camaro two of them very nice good sound opened up nice idle. I only wish I could have fit their Road Runner series under there, but they are a longer case and would not fit. They sound even better. They also last a long time well made worth the money. Alex
Borla Pro XS or Magnaflow both are very mellow at cruise and idle yet have some throat when on the gas. Both are straight a through design and have excellent flow characteristics. Zero drone.
