Side view mirror identification

I want to verify that this mirror is actually the GM mirror whose part number is on the box shown in the pictures or is it possibly a reproduction? GM p/n 3914754 passenger door mirror.

Since there is no part number on the mirror, the the number (casting number?) on the inside of the base is the only thing to go on. (HA 61071) I know it's a passenger door mirror because of the location of the pivot point. It also looks like a GM date code (3-DCA-0) I believe the 0 in the date code would be 1970 making this mirror incorrect for a first gen Camaro but correct for some other 1970 GM cars

Thanks....Dave

Re: Side view mirror identification

This may help you a bit. Mirror Date Code The DCA-r mirrors where later as in starting in 1984. Others may chime in on this as well.

Yes, 3914754 (and HA 61071) is the correct part number (and casting number for the base) for a right side mirror (passenger side) used on the 1968 & 1969 Camaro, the 1970 full size cars and the 1971 & 1972 Chevelle (including the station wagons and El Camino), but yours is an over the counter service mirror dated March of 1990.

Re: Side view mirror identification

Thanks for the replies and info.

My biggest concern was if it was a real GM or not. So it's good to know that it is.

Re: Side view mirror identification

Since we are decoding side mirrors, here is mine Bought from Key Chevrolet in MD in the early 80s. I bought a bunch of NOS 69 Camaro parts from Key for my SS when I bought it in 1982. So what did they give me?

Mirror says 3-DMI-I (or 1), Base is NH151339 with a 1 lower and separate.

the DMI etch on the mirror is upside down when you place the head in the proper position (I think).

Re: Side view mirror identification

Well, the mirror is dated March, 1971 (or 1981), but the box they put it in was for the round "Remote Mirror" (see example below) for a 1964, 1965 & early 1966 Corvair, 1964-1966 All (except full size), 1966 full size with Convenience Group (except Caprice), and 1966 Caprice station wagon!
