68 Z28 Front Mount AM Antenna

Need a little help. My 68 Z28 came to me without any of its original front mount, AM antenna parts. As the car was mostly original I am attempting to put it back with the original oval AM antenna setup. I can find repo antenna, bases, and mounting hardware but no front mount cables.
- are there any front mount cable assemblies or adapters available that connect to the original '68 AM antenna bases?
- are there any antenna bases or kits with integral cables ( as the AM/FM arrangement seems to have) that accommodate the 1968 AM screw in antenna?
- I assume '69 antenna bases will not accommodate the 1968 AM screw in antenna

Appreciate any input on any configurations that at least externally have the AM radio oval antenna and mounting arrangement factory correct look.

Thanks Joe

I'm not sure why you can't find just the cable. Almost everyone sells it. HERE'S ONE on ebay.

Re: 68 Z28 Front Mount AM Antenna

I am not sure if a 69 Cable will work with a 68 radio or not. I see that you can buy a complete "kit" for a 68 with AM for $175. I have a 69 and I used a AM/FM cable on my AM antenna and it fit and functions fine. If you can find the part number of the original AM cable, maybe it will help you find a cable that will work.

The original part number for the front cable was 3897334, but good luck finding an NOS! You're probably going to have to go with the reproduction like I posted above.

More info HERE.

That is the cable I used that you sent a link to in post #2. Looks like 67-69 AM/FM cables fit all three year AM/FM radios. I do know that cable fit my 69 AM Radio. Just guessing it would fit the 68 AM Radio too.

Yes, that cable fits all 3 years and both the AM and the AM/FM radio.

Re: 68 Z28 Front Mount AM Antenna

Thank you for your responses. To my knowledge, 67-68 AM antenna cable/ base arrangement was different from 67-69 AM/FM and 69 AM only arrangement. That is account the screw in antenna (male fitting) on 67/68 AM only radios antennas.
More to come.
