just a quick question, i've got a 350 sb in a 69 camaro, I have good pressure while cruising (50psi) but at idle this drops to 15 psi, the guage is a mechanical autometer. Is this normal? thanks in advance for replies.
A minimum of about 12 psi at idle (550-750 RPM) is okay. The thinner the oil is the lower the pressure will be. I think your okay. If that is an old style 350 SBC, I would change to 10W-30 or 15W-40 Mobil 1. 5W-30 Mobil 1 is for newer engines.
oil pressure is fine but ditch the 5-30 from the camaro ,
use the 5-30 in your mini van LOL!!!
in the heat of summer I use 20-50 in my camaro
