What are the chances the new Camaro WON'T be released in the spring??

Do you think GM will hold off on releasing the new Camaro? Or do you think they see it as a bright spot for revitalization?

updated 15 minutes ago 7/15/08

DETROIT - General Motors Corp said on Tuesday it would cut white-collar employment costs by 20 percent, sell up to $4 billion of assets, and borrow at least $2 billion in a bid to bolster its liquidity by $15 billion through 2009.
GM also said it would suspend its common stock dividend in a restructuring driven by high fuel prices, a shift away from trucks and SUVs, and the lowest U.S. industrywide auto sales in a decade.
GM said it expects to generate $10 billion in cash savings from operations through 2009. It said it expects to capture those savings through steps that include cutting white-collar jobs and some retiree health-care coverage, eliminating executive bonuses for 2008, and reducing capital spending by $1.5 billion.

Re: What are the chances the new Camaro WON'T be released in the sprin

I would be ticked off if my bonus was eliminated. Wonder if that's a voluntary thing, or if they're just eliminating the "above the table" executive bonuses.

Hmm. "...a restructuring driven by high fuel prices, a shift away from trucks and SUVs, and the lowest sales in a decade." The Camaro probably gets 28 mpg, is not a truck or SUV, and will draw people to dealerships in droves. They'd be crazy to delay it as part of this restructure. Doesn't make sense.

And BTW I heard September for the Detroit release, not spring. Did I miss something?

Everything I have read still points to a release in Feb '09 and we are expecting a lot of information to be released on July 22nd. So we will know more in a week. However, I won't count on being able to buy one until I'm test driving them

A bonus is a bonus not a guarantee. It should be performance based and if the performance is not met .... No bonus. I really admired what Iaccoca did to get Chrysler back on track when he ran it. It makes the lack of a raise easier to swallow if the head honcho is doing with out also.
