2010 "Hit King" Camaro

Is there any information out there on these? All I could find about them was that a group of Cincinnati dealers got together and had 27 built. It was a $2400 option and had distictive markings on the hood, front fenders, rear quarters, and head restraints. All are red. I wanted to know where these were put together, factory or aftermarket? Was the red a factory color or special color, or were they delivered in primer from the factory? Pretty car. Thanks.

Yes, tried Google. All I seemed to find was ones that were for sale. No information on the history.

Re: 2010 "Hit King" Camaro

I found this...

Quote:
PETE ROSE HIT KING 4256 SPECIAL EDITION 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS RS Package Coupe 6.2L V8 Engine with AUTOMATIC transmission includes SPECIAL EDITION HIT KING Stripes, Emblems, Embroidering, Only 27 LIMITED EDITION 2010s approved by Pete Rose personally AUTOGRAPHED by PETE ROSE on June 15, 2010
and this...

Quote:
In 2010 a group of Cincinnati area auto dealers, along with local radio station WLW, worked with Chevrolet to create these 27 exclusive Camaros as part of an on-air promotion. Later, in June of 2010, one of the cars was raffled off with Rose personally pulling the winning key. The controversial former pro ballplayer and coach also signed the valve covers on each of the vehicles. The remaining 26 cars were then put up for sale, with some being bought that same day.
and this...

Quote:
The Camaro SS already comes loaded with features, and the “Hit King” package adds a dugout full of Rose-related items. The list includes head rests and floor mats with an embroidered badge displaying a replica of Rose’s signature and the number 4256, which is the number of hits the former Reds/Phillies/Expos star had during his career.

Another version of this badge also appears under the hood on the plastic engine cover and on both front fenders as well. Several other places on the car also have custom nameplates, “4256” graphics, or the words “Hit King” displayed.

Yes, I found all of that also. I just haven't found the answers to the questions I posted when I started this thread.

Re: 2010 "Hit King" Camaro

When I read "worked with Chevrolet" I think that answers part of your question! Custom paint? You posted it was a $2400 option, can you get custom paint for that? It's also advertised as "Victory Red" a stock 2010 Camaro color! There are no engine mods, exhaust mods etc. It's stitching and stickers, emblems and an engine cover...

Sorry I wasn't able to help answer the questions you asked in your first post!

Re: 2010 "Hit King" Camaro

No need to apologize. I don't know the answers either! I was thinking it might be factory paint but I don't remember seeing many Camaros in that color. I thought this car could be a similar situation to the 1968 Bengal Charger that was produced for Tom Kneer Dodge in Cincinnati. The dealer had to order a minimum of 50 to get special paint from the factory. On those cars, a distinctive diecast fender emblem was used, cast locally, and attached at the dealership. Thanks.

Re: 2010 "Hit King" Camaro

But you do know the answers and if not satisfied you know who commissioned the cars and can contact them to get more details. Victory Red is one of the most used reds in the Chevrolet lineup. My wifes 2000 Impala is Victory Red...

They were delivered in Factory applied paint and then fitted with special graphics and appointments by an aftermarket 'upscaler'

The promotional upscaling was done by outside vendor - Morgan Design Group.
There have been several series of Baseball and other sports team related Camaro's and other modles done by them over the years.
Here's the Philly's Camaro - http://www.mdgglobal.com/portfolio.html

As DjD stated, they are standard ordered Camaro's with some graphics and interior work to reflect Pete's Baseball record ...

I'm not sure GM would interupt a modern assembly plant to do special/custom colors, including 'just primer', unless there was a sizable order of very special circumstances

BTW - it's not the 1st Pete comemorative Camaro
Do a 'Youtube' search for Pete Rose Camaro - there was a custom (red) one on there a year or so ago with custom graphics and interior work (IIRC it was done with animal hides or something ) ...
