5th Gen Diet

Anyone else see this yet? Hopefully they drop at least 1500 lbs

Re: 5th Gen Diet

You realize that a 2300 pound camaro is impossible unless they make it as small as the miata, right? 2015 camaro is rumored to be put on the alpha platform. You may like it then.

The reason the camaro is so heavy is because of all the safety equipment and comfort materials. aftermarket exhaust (louder) is normally about 30 pounds. Leather power seats are easily 60 pounds heavier. All the air bags and speaker systems, etc. Hell, removing the back seat is 35 pounds.

The Hankook Drift camaro swapped engines to a hi-compression LS7 instead of the LSA they were using to save weight. Now they've gotten the camaro to under 3000 pounds with a fully gutted interior and carbon fiber everything. The frames of cars nowadays are just super heavy. Even the mustang weighs 3820 compared to the camaros 3860. Blame the safety regulations for all the weight, not GM.

=)

I thought this video was cool too http://www.lsxtv.com/news/video-supe...tboard-motors/
supercharged 6.2 LSA outboard motors!
The transfer case might be adaptable to GMC front wheel drive motor homes!

Re: 5th Gen Diet

Yeah, it was a joke. I love the car the way it is, but if they are making - say the Z28 - a minimalist lighter weight car, how cool would that be?

Yeah, sorry. Work computer didn't show a video, just an article. I just webex'ed my computer at home to watch it. That's pretty cool. =)

As for the Z28, they never said it was dead. The ZL1 took the supercharged camaro crown, so you never know what they are working on...
