Exhaust 2011 Camaro

The previous owner removed the resonators and mufflers from the 2011 camaro my daughter bought. They replaced it with straight pipes.

The only thing I see still on it is an oblong round pipe about 6" long at the front coming off the exhaust manifolds on both sides. Are those the cats?

I see a piece of pipe ( 2 ) installed about in the middle of the car. Is that were the rersonators go?

I looked at the cat back Borla systems but they are pretty pricey. I am thinking of just getting mufflers put back on the car. Should we put the resonators back on.

What is a good replacement muffler? She still wants it loud like it is now but without the popping in the exhaust.

The Cats are in the down-legs right off the exhaust manifolds.
There is a cross-over a few feet back and then the Resonators.
The 'Bee-Hive' mufflers are stuffed up in back of the rear underpan/bumper.

Note that the "innerds" of the mufflers vary greatly between stock V6 and performance V8 options.
The lower performance muffler has sound-damping packing and an internal piping system.
The V8's got a muffler that is basicly a bent pipe with a few holes drilled in there ...

Also, Mike, if you're just looking at going back to stock, check out some of the 5th gen boards. There are usually quite a few stock setups for sale cheap in the classifieds.

Working at the dealer, if she wants a nice rumble but not to loud, its very common to see the SS cars with stock mufflers but no resonators. Its doesnt sounds all to bad and has a bit of a bite to it.

Re: Exhaust 2011 Camaro

Just make sure, whatever repair/replacement you do, you get those exhaust exit tips OUTSIDE of the rear pan!
The system on there now looks like they exit under rear of car - you don't want her idleing with the windows up listening to tunes this winter while the underside of the car is filling with CO

The pipes are just short of the rear valance. They are directed thru the hole in the valance. They are just hard to see.

We are looking at the Borla Atak mufflers. At least I think that is what they are called.
