New member with a couple questions

Hey guys. Picked up my 2012 SS yesterday and had a couple questions.

1st I wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a GOOD service department/dealer in the Inland Empire area of Southern Calif? I need a good solid dealer to get my maintenance and or warranty work taken care of.

2nd question is do you know if these cars come with full synthetic oil in them from the factory, or is it a blend or what? What is the general consensus on oil brand and type that people are having good luck with in these new Camaros?

Thanks a bunch

Re: New member with a couple questions

Robert, can't help you with a dealership recomendation. As far as the oil, our 2010 Camaro has full synthetic oil. Mobil 1 from the factory. I'm sure your 2012 is the same. I believe it says it somewhere on the motor, possibly at the oil fill location.

Ledfoot, thanks bud. I did check on the fill area and all it says is "Dexos1" and the recommended viscosity; no brand. Anyway, thanks bud.

Robert - what's wrong with the dealership you bought the car from?

Read this with regard to the oil...

Mobil 1 is approved...

Re: New member with a couple questions

Dennis, probably nothing at all is wrong with the dealer I purchased the car from. They are about an hour away from me and for maintenance or warranty concerns it would be very difficult to arrange a ride to and from the dealer in the event I had to leave the car. In short, just a bit inconvenient is all.

Thanks for the links to the oil bud.

If you're still looking, I don't know any dealers off the top of my head, but can direct you to someone who does. feel free to shoot me a pm. =)

Dexos1 is a synthetic/dino oil blend. I bought a new '12 'Vert with the v-6 and that's what's in it. At 1k I'm changing to Mobil 1 full synthetic. Can't hurt.

Re: New member with a couple questions

A full synthetic oil change at a dealer is going to run you about $150+. You sure you dont want to do it yourself? Haha!

LOL I'll buy the oil at WM and go to jiffy lube.... Cheaper there. I'm an old head that doesn't mind paying a little extra for convenience. But a c note is wayyyy too much!
