Owners manual!

I can't believe what I read last night.
While browsing the owners manual of our new 2013 SS/RS convertible I noticed a competition section. Actually there were references to other competition advice too. Anyway, right there in the book is 'how to race the ZL1 and SS! I read a long description of how to care for the car during road races of 12 hours or longer. Also was a detailed description of how to burnish the brakes for maximum performance. Get this; Find a really long road with no traffic. At 60 mph SLAM on the brakes, decelerate at .8 G's! to 30 mph. (pedal force should be just before the anti lock function kicks in). Then go back to 60 for at least 1/2 mile and do it again. Keep doing it until THE BRAKES SMOKE!!!! An indicator of the procedure being complete is a white powder at the leading edge of the pads. Also the pedal must become SOFT! It should move about half way down to the floor from when the pads first touched the rotors.
Stunning. How to race, right in the owners manual! And I didn't even get to the drag racing part. Of course there was the required disclaimer that some types of competition COULD affect the warranty. It sounded more like we shouldn't enter stuff like demo-derbies.
Let's hear it for GM and Chevrolet.

Re: Owners manual!

Serious? So that's what that thing is!
Oh wait! There's no spare, only a compressor and battery. Never mind.
