What GM could have done with the new Camaro

I would love these cars if GM had made them to look more like the 1st Gen. cars. Retro-kits make this car look awesome.

Re: What GM could have done with the new Camaro

Well I am not sure I am in love with the new Camaro but the retro look to me is same old same old. There is nothing like the first gen Camaro's and they should keep it that way, again just an opinion which I am sure is wrong. I don't like the Mustang for the same reason, I am not thrilled with the Challenger either but it carried over better than the others. I think the new Camaro should be under 3,000 lbs and look nothing like the old one. But that picture is quite an improvement to the new Camaro

Saw that picture in the January 2013 issue of Muscle Car Review..... quite like it, but actually prefer the standard front end look (below); and have you seen the price?

Not a fan of retro kits. I want Detroit to look forward, not always to the past. Give me something that looks modern and sexy, not retro and bulky.

Re: What GM could have done with the new Camaro

I think the new Camaro is good looking for a new car but as a Camaro it has too many hard lines.
I restored a 68 into a tribute car that looked like the Z I owned when I was in the service and I bought it new, about $3000 or so.
I have been amazed at how some new Camaro owners act when I pull up next to them. I don't think they are tied to the history of the first gen Camaros. (not saying all are) They look over and don't even give a little head tilt or thumbs up. If I see a nice new one I will at least acknowledge them with a wave or a thumbs up!
I think it is like the old saying," If you remember the 60s, you weren't there!"
I just don't think the majority of new Camaro owners are cut from the same cloth that first gen owners are.

No, no, no... the proportions around the grills look terrible.
And those big rally's on the first car... yuck.

Re: What GM could have done with the new Camaro

I saw a 2002 Camaro that they did the same look to it was a convertible. It looked better then the new version but still... yuck. Dump 1000 lbs off the new cars and I would not even care what it looked like. They are all fat as hell. over 2 ton muscle car?

It's funny m y 67 is inferno orange from the 2010 Camaro and I know what your saying but the reaction I get from them is WOW!! I really liked that color on the lot and......."so this what the first ones looked like....I never knew they looked so cool" kinda funny. I have that response or similar about 5 or 6 times from younger new Camaro owners. Then they take a picture. Funny they put 2+2 together, to them it's just new car and they like it and the old ones don't really mean anything to them.

They had some of these retro cars at the last MCACN. Here are some pics I took:
