Re: 2013 copo

Very cool buttt.. a 9" FORD rear end ? Seriously ? I don't imagine there are any parts in it that were actually made by Ford but it still seems like sacrilege.. What's next, Toyotas racing in Nascar.... So what does one of these cost anyway ? Will anyone who buys one actually race it or will they all end up tucked away as an "investment" ? Any of you guys on here with pockets way deeper than mine got one ?

Really nothing "Ford" about the rear axle under one of these
Other than the ring/pinion interchanging, everything else is designed to correct the problems and short-comings of a standard Ford issued axle.
And, since they are such a common item in performance/drag vehicle construction I can't think of another good alternate to this choice - specially given GM doesn't have a alternate production unit they could have chose.

'Price' ... Well, if you have to ask ...
Depends on engine and other options chosen, but you could generally fiqure on beating the 'S' out of a $100K bill before you had one sitting on your trailer and were heading to your favorite strip for your first run
If your ready to buy I can put you in touch with west-coast rep. Jim would be happy to schedule your order

Don't own one, but just recently saw another one that was being painted for competition - after its shake-down runs (all sub 9-sec) - pretty dang impressive 'factory racer'

Re: 2013 copo

They can never be licensed for the street. They have no VIN. These buyers had to know somebody to get one. At least that's what I've read. These can also be used to put in a display case with two engines. One is for display. How many are made? How many ZL1's went into 69 Camaro's? That's your answer. Sure wish I'da bought a 69 back in the day.

Re: 2013 copo

IIRC, one version has the 7 liter engine out of the Vette and the other version has an iron 5.3 liter with a supercharger on it. No under coating or sound deadener or uneeded BS (radio, heater, back seat, etc). They were made to homologate them to be raced against the cars that Mother Mopar and Ford are making for racing in a particular category in NHRA competition, just like the old days...

Re: 2013 copo

If this works, the link was taken at the Copo plant where they teach the new owners how to set the trans brake and do a burnout before it is loaded up. The 2012 is one of the 2 out of 69 silver cars built last year, no I do not own it, mine is the 69. My car was painted in the plant before production began. If a group wanted to visit, we could set it up, neat place, located in Oxford mi. Horsepower tv did a whole half hour show on it it is on YouTube
