install own ralley stripes?

Hey Guys, Just picked up my 2013 RS and want to add the ralley stripes to the hood and trunk lid. I was just wondering if anyone has installed their own stripes and how difficult it is. I have pretty good skills but would like to know a little bit before hand on what the pitfalls might be in doing it myself. Dealer wanted $500 to add them and looks like I can get them on the web for about $219. And how about removing or changeing them after they are on? Thinking about silver on a crystal red car. I've seen it and thought it looked pretty good. Ideas anyone?

Re: install own ralley stripes?

We have the stripes you are looking for and an application kit that makes installation much easier. We also provide assistance on the phone or through or website videos.
We would suggest two people to install the hood stripes.

Dealer wants 600 here in NY. Buy the GM stripes. Check color fade warranty on aftermarket kits.

Re: install own ralley stripes?

when i bought my 2010 new , i drove it home , Took off the hood deck lid and rear spoiler and painted mine on !
Decals catch wax , FADE and will curl in time due to heat n weather conditions.

it might cost a bit more but its worth it ! JUST A THOUGHT .

Re: install own ralley stripes?

thats true ! just because they have a sign over the building doesnt mean they know what they are doing ...!!

i didnt like the factory ( decal ) stripes and wanted mine up and over the rear spoiler .
they stopped at the spoiler when they first came out , and , I wanted them to be smooth ...

basically , wetsand the clear , lay out the stipes ( measure measure measure ) lay out with 1/4 in blue ( it bends better and holds a good line ( plastic or vinyl style tape at any body shop supply ) tape off everything , but the stripes to be painted , Spry the stripe color , let dry and pull off paper n carefully pull back the stripe outline ...
a quick LIGHT , tack and spray the clear. - 2 to 3 nice coats ...Will fill the depth between stripes and be able to wetsand SMOOOOOOTH ...NO RIDGES OR LINES ...then But and WALLAH.
It cost me less than $200 ... a pint of Black base and a quart of clear... done in 1 day and put back together the next !

If your doing FACTORY CORRECT STRIPES .. you can usually find the demensions in the correct assembly manuals . VERY DETAILED.
