camaro ss vs mustang gt

Hi everyone just thinking about getting an 2ss but even tossed the idea of a mustang around .Drove both cars both autos camaro was a 2010 and mustang a 2012.
Both cars really run strong my opinion was the camaro had way more bottom end tourqe and
the muatang pulled hard from a roll.
Just wondering if anyone else had driven both and what their impressions were.
Just keep hearing all the talk about how the Mustang is supposed too be about the baddest car out there just didn't get that impression myself.

Re: camaro ss vs mustang gt

the gt 500 maybe, but all of the mustangs perform poorly as far as braking is concerned. All that power and they still can't get the thing to stop. They also have a lot of body roll. If you drove the 2ss at a car lot and the dealer or previous owner had been cheap and only ran 87 octane in that engine, then the car was automatically .2 seconds slower at least in a quarter mile. Chevy had 2 fuel maps for that car and when 87 octane is ran through the engine for a period, the computer will not relearn the 91 octane map. Its dumb, but you can read all about it. There are ways to reset the computer and it will run stronger though. The coyote 5.0's are pretty awesome engines, but in my opinion its not as "complete" of a car as the camaro.

The new 5.0 in the mustangs are a way bigger improvement over the 4.6 hardly any comparison in performance between the two.
Just keep hearing that both cars stock that camaro doesn't stand a chance in the quarter.
Both cars really run strong but all these ford guys just say it isn't even a race between the two just find it hard to believe myself from driving both.

Re: camaro ss vs mustang gt

I'm a die hard Camaro fan, and my friend has a 2011 5.0 GT.

Fact is that he was beating almost every 5th gen Camaro that he raced.
I'm not biased just being factual. When he loses to one, the Camaro always has a fair amount of mods done to it.

The GT is a 6 speed & the fastest Camaros are also 6 speeds.
There is a significant difference in performance of the Autos.
