Do you Park near or at the end?

When I drive and see fellow Camaro drivers I look at how and where they park. Normally I see them Parking at the and of parking lots in any given parking lot. Has this been your experience too?

Five to eight spaces away, and they still come...

Re: Do you Park near or at the end?

if I have to stop at a store, and that is very very rare I stay in the car and send my wife in.
I will drop her off at the entrance and then find a row where there is no cars for 2-3 spaces on either side. i do not take up 2-3 spaces when parking, but i will open the doors partially, and if someone tries to pull in i just move and usually get a go to hell look

They probably figure you have a nice car, so you won't be opening your door into their car.

I know when I pull into a parking lot, I'd rather park next to a shiny new car than a 15 year old Toyota Tercel, or a soccer Mom SUV.

Re: Do you Park near or at the end?

You can't get away from it. There are people who see your nice car either way and take pleasure in going out of their way to do something to it. "Oh, I bet you thought it was safe didn't you? Well let's see if my key will still reach it.....screeeeeee."

When I was in Boston staying in an extended stay for a job site there was someone else there with a nice new car that parked on the end of a parking section, right on the line between the end spot at the curb and the next to last spot so the car took up two spots. I made up a note and left on their windshield and from then on the car was parked normally. The note said "Nice car. It's a lot less likely to get damaged by parking correctly than by parking like an A-HOLE."

Re: Do you Park near or at the end?

I park as far away from any car possible. I usually take up two spots. I typically don't lock my doors either. LOL

Then some idiot will park right next to me.

Re: Do you Park near or at the end?

I've always parked in the back of the lot was my Monte, Tahoe or silverado. I haven't driven the Camaro since it's torn apart. Tahoe, I'm not so worried about door ding, it's not of a turn radius issue with a SAS and 35s. The Silverado, I usually have to take two spots, front to back, due to length. They don't even have long enough spots at Home Depot for my crew cab short bed!

Re: Do you Park near or at the end?

I usually try to park at least 3-4 spaces away from a car on either side, or an end spot. When I can't I try to park next to a 4 door car rather than a 2 door, that has wider opening doors. Also I feel a lot less nervous parking next to a car like a Porsche or Corvette than an every day commuter car or any SUV.

Re: Do you Park near or at the end?

I don't have a 5th gen., I do have a '67 SS/RS, but I can say that I had just bought a new 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport Quad Cab in April and before I had 500 miles on it, some A-HOLE while parked away from others took a lit cigarette and held it on the front passenger side door handle totally burning off the paint and leaving a blister area surrounding in a perfect circle. I had just detailed the truck for the first time that day.

Re: Do you Park near or at the end?

I am always the first one to work and have pretty much taken over an end spot that is extra wide. It is also on a small military installation so most folks are respectful of other people's stuff. Being in and out of the building a bunch of times each day, I find myself still keeping an eye on whatever I drive to work
With my trucks I park where I fit and most times that isn't close to stores.

Even in Texas where everybody drives a truck the spots are not big enough. You would think Home Depot and Lowes would get it but they don't. The Camaros usually are not out of sight unless there is a trusted caretaker around.
