New Member 60k Camero Help

Hello, So Im new here because Im about to buy a Camero SS. Dont gawk.
I have around 60k and was going to buy a dodge challenger hell cat but I dont really like the way it looks. So I have been thinking and decided I would buy a cheap camero ss 2010 and swap out for a LS9 engine unsure about the trans though. Can you guys help me. I want to know if this is possible to do and what trans I would need. I love stick and hate auto. My goal is to over all throw a extra 40k in to it and make this a super car kinda haha. So guys I know you know your **** can you guys give me some advice. Maybe on an engine thats better than the ls9. Im open to everything and to talk about it. And No i dont want to but a stock z28 I want to do this to have the option of customizing my car. Thanks

Re: New Member 60k Camero Help

Come on man "Camero" you posted on the wrong forum this is the "Camaro" forum(JUST KIDDING). So many engine and tranny choices today. Just think about what you would use the car most for and go from there. Daily driver, race car, cruiser, etc.

Re: New Member 60k Camero Help

Define "Super Car". Are you wanting it to go straight only? Or do you want something that will corner well? The regular ss, and the engine that are in it are more than capable of handling up to 1000 hp. I recently worked on one that had a 88 MM Turbo setup and a tune, on stock heads, exhaust, and intake, that dyno'ed 870hp to the tires. So unless you are trying to make 1000+ hp you don't need to do an engine swap... Even if you did, you wouldn't want to pull a factory engine, you would want to buy an aftermarket short block designed to handle that type of HP, so that the rest of your components would still mount up and appear factory. Just buy it, slap a turbo in it, and have fun. Then just buy a built 6 speed with a good clutch setup. I have a zl1 that makes 730hp and the factory trans holds that power, and its the 6 speed manual.

Re: New Member 60k Camero Help

If you want to spend 60k why not just start with a solid platform like a ZL1 and go from there. The stock LSA's respond well to more boost and it doesn't take much in the way of bolts-ons, cam, headers, tune and you have a 10 sec street car.

Re: New Member 60k Camero Help

I would learn how to spell Camaro first before buying one and dumping 40K into it. With that I just don't get buying a used car to dump 40K into into when the factory has already done what your looking for in ZL1. You can still customize it and make it your own and it's going to be better than anything you attempt to build. The suspension alone and the engine are worth entry cost. Not to mention you get a warranty.

Re: New Member 60k Camero Help

Send me the car and cash and I'll hook your Camero up!
13's in the 1/4 no doubt, I'll even throw in an illuminated nitrous purge.

I'm pretty sure the OP won't spell Camaro wrong again.

Re: New Member 60k Camero Help

Cameros are more rare than Camaros. Good luck.

What? I was just trying to offer some "visual advice??!!"

I know those wheels are expensive, but they should fit in the $100K budget...

Re: New Member 60k Camero Help

To quote an old Cream song it looks like the OP "went straight round the corner and never came back"...

And now for our bonus round, it's "Trivia Quiz Time": You've already got the group so what song and which album???
