Model Information for Purchase Consideration

Hey guys, been a long time 69 Camaro owner although now considering purchasing a 5th generation Camaro SS. Have not studied this generation in detail which will soon be obvious by my questions which I appreciate any feedback.

I'm newly retired, so this car will not be used for a work commute. My initial interest is the 2010 to 2015 model years. Likely going with an SS, 6.2 V8 and 6 Speed Manual. I like the colors Aqua Blue Metallic and Imperial Blue Metallic, although these may only be 2010 model year colors and thus may consider other shades of blue.

My Questions:
1) What's the difference between a 1SS and 2SS?
2) When did Backup Cameras come stock, although I believe this can be added via the aftermarket?
3) It looks like dealers are asking a premium for Aqua Blue Metallic. If so, is that due to rarity or what?
4) As much as I like it, is it a good idea to convert to a Hurst short shift shifter?
5) What features does the RS add?
6) What else should I consider as I ponder this purchase?

Thank you for all of your input.......

Re: Model Information for Purchase Consideration

Charlie,

Some info from my time with my 5th gen:

1.) 2SS equipment included HEated Leather seating, Console gauges, Bluetooth stereo, Interior Accent lighting, Steering Wheel controls, and later in the year Backup sensors & HUD.
2.) Not sure on this one.
3.) ABM was indeed a premium color with an upcharge.
4.) I used an MGW short throw and I loved it.
5.) -RS options: 20 inch 5 spoke wheel
- Midnight silver paint finish
- Optional polished finish
- RS unique tail lamps (darkened lenses)
- Body Colored roof Ditch molding
- Special RS Badging
6.) I'm pondering that I wish I had sold you mine!

Hey Gordon,

I just went up and sat in a new Camaro today. It was very comfortable, although with the smaller windows it will definitely take getting use to the lower side and rear vision. I wish it was better right from the start!

If you don't mind me asking, what didn't you like about your Camaro?

Not much I didnt like about that car. It's a big car and not that unlike something chevelle sized in driving "feel" but that never bothered me. The car was well built and never had any mechanical trouble and was a pleasure to drive. I just had to get back into a 1st gen though!
