Re: 2010 Camaro Convert Pictures (Slide Show)

The car is kinda cool, but it is NOTHING like the job Ford did with their latest Mustang. The new Mustang looks like something Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington would have created from an original Mustang.

The new Camaro simply looks like a modern car. I hardly see any retro styling at all. Very boring and disappointing. Not quite as embarrassing as the recent Pontiac GTO, but still not a retro Camaro, IMHO.........

I predict poor sales and limited collectibility. Contrast that to the overwhelming demand for the new Shelby GT 500.

GM designers are still missing the boat.

You mean the overweight GT-500?

Fords performance has always been a step behind that of the Camaro and I don't see that changing any time soon.

100% retro only sells so long, look at the Tbird. Ford did a beautiful job with the design, they put it on a top-knotch chassis (LS). It was a bit underpowered, but it was a great car all around.

The reason I believe GM is on the right path with the Camaro is it is just retro enough to capture the existing heritage of the classic 1969 but is already moving forward into the future. The design is where the Mustang will be in 3-4 years.
If GM went 100% retro with the Camaro, they would be behind when Ford restyles the Mustang at that time.

Well, have you seen the Feb 2007 Hot Rod magazine? They (Evolution Motorsports) added a few bolt-on parts to a Shelby GT 500 and they are in the mid-10's!! Their best run was 10.46 at 132mph. Not bad for a 3,900 pound car with a nearly-stock drivetrain. This is with all the creature comforts still in place. With a few more parts, they are fairly certain they can get into the 9's!!

LOL, you can let grandma take the thing to the store, and then go run 10's at the track. Not bad. The Camaro will be hard-pressed to beat that..........

I was referring to OEM out of the box performance for the money

My buddy Lidio here in Detroit has 'thrown a few bolt ons' to a new Mustang GT and run 10 seconds I'm guessing he has much less invested in this car then MSRP on a new GT-500 and with the sleeper factor it is a much better value IMO

http://alternativeauto.com/misc/2005...te-122106.html

You can talk bolt ons all day long, but for what you pay with the GT-500, the value just isn't there. Mustang/Ford purists will be all over the car, just as I would if I was a Ford guy, but when it comes to styling, the Mustang will be redesigned come 2010 or so and the Camaro will be right there in the ballgame.

GM is thinking ahead on the Camaro project for sure, you have to give them props on that

If you think GM will be losing to the Mustang stock for stock, take a look back a the history between the rivalry and thinkg again

Re: 2010 Camaro Convert Pictures (Slide Show)

That new vert looks awsome. I would love to own one. Retro or not. Retro is cool but the new cars that are retro will never be what they are retro'ed after. I say own a first gen for the real retro and new vert for what it is also and to me that is just a purly awsome looking car staning still. Add the new LS7 and Wahoo!!!!!!!!!
