Gen 1 Camaro/LS swap ground clearance pics

Hey guys, I'm in the process of finishing up on my first LS swap. I put an L92 (DOD removed) and a 6L90E transmission in my 67 Camaro. I'm running 17" wheels with 25" tall tires and I have about 3 3/4" of clearance from the trans oil pan and the header collector to the ground. I'm not sure if that is normal for what most guys are seeing. I didn't cut my trans tunnel so I may need to look at doing that and raising the engine and trans up an inch or so. Any ideas on the best way to do that without taking everything back out?

Does anyone know if there is a shallow pan for the 6L90e transmission available?

Please post any pics you have of your conversions and ground clearance you have. If you can tell me the engine mounts and headers that would be great too.

Thanks

Re: Gen 1 Camaro/LS swap ground clearance pics

I am using Doug's engine mount adapters and Doug's headers and have WAY more clearance than that. my headers sit just below the subframe.

Re: Gen 1 Camaro/LS swap ground clearance pics

I'm using Dirty Dingo Sliders with Energy Suspension mounts. I'm using the older style Holley LS swap oil pan and Doug's 3337 headers. I have 4" ground clearance on my passenger side header and 4.5" on my driver's side. I originally had the cheap ebay headers that you see for $200 a set and I had to clearance them in 3 places, and they never sealed against the heads.

Here are some pics from a thread I had on pro-touring.com:

About 4" of clearance on passenger side, and 4.5" on driver side:

Thanks for the pics and info, looks like I am about the same as you on ground clearance for my exhaust. I will probably use some 1/2" plate between my frame and engine mount perches to bring it up a bit and then change out the GM Muscle car pan for the Holley pan and change my trans pan to a CTS-V pan.

Re: Gen 1 Camaro/LS swap ground clearance pics

That looks a little low. I'm looking at the Holley/Hooker stuff for my swap. Thier mounts, pan and headers are supposed to provide adequate clearance and proper angles without tunnel modification. Don't know if that would work for your project, might be worth a look. Good luck.

And this too shall pass.

Wow, thanks for the information and pics. The Holley/Hooker set up fits great and looks clean. I guess I'm going to have to pull mine all back out and use that kit. Grrrrr.......

Re: Gen 1 Camaro/LS swap ground clearance pics

Not to hijack this thread but would shorty headers allow for more clearance. I am asking as I will making the swap as well sometime this year.
