1970 Trunk/ Tail Wiring Routing Pictures

Hi All
Helping my freind who just picked up a 1970 RS (Clone) and he is trying to put the Trunk back together.
He is looking for any 1970 Trunk/ Tail Wiring Routing Pictures someone might be able to share.
I found on where it only shows the harness assy running up under across the Aft lip of the Trunk but does not sho where the Harness comes in or how it goes to the lights.
Thanks
Timmy

Re: 1970 Trunk/ Tail Wiring Routing Pictures

I'll look for a pic,but in the meantime,it travels under the drivers sill plate,up the rear trim panel, across the shoulder to a hole on the drivers side speaker shelf, where it enters the trunk.Plastic clip fixes it to the brace there, then it runs along the drivers quarter till it hits the back, and runs thru those metal clips that snap onto the trunk lip.You see them as four flat tabs of metal from uptop.

Hi Chris
Thanks for the Info, I will pass this along to Eddie, he owns the 1970.

Re: 1970 Trunk/ Tail Wiring Routing Pictures

This is a 73 heading into the trunk:

I need to take pictures inside the trunk. I assume the 73 and the 70 are very similar. I will do that tonight as I should have already had them. Glad I saw this thread and realized those are missing.

That's a good pick Dan.I cant believe I don't have any like that. Those two wires running out of the trunk go up to the dome light too. They attach inside the trunk,at the brace, then run back thru.IDKW,lol.

Re: 1970 Trunk/ Tail Wiring Routing Pictures

Hi Chris and Dan
Great Pic's!

Dan, what is the Purple Wire for ?

Chris, That Heavy Undercoating on the inside of your 1/4 panel, is it that way on both sides ?

My 69 has it heavy like yours on the Right Side but like nothing on the Left Side.
Both Left and Right Pictures, My Wiring coming thru the Back Seat area and a View looking FWD from my Trunk.

Thanks again
Timmy

Yeah, both sides, from the factory. The shiny black is a sealer on the back of a patch.

Re: 1970 Trunk/ Tail Wiring Routing Pictures

The purple wire is for the Rear defroster. I took a bunch more pictures last night but I have to upload them. I was taking more stuff apart and took a lot of shots just for this reason. Also, I have been tagging every wire so even when I replace all the wiring, I will know what everything goes to.

Yes, the white wires go to the dome light and then to the trunk light.
