Not positive, but my 78 Z had "Z28" in the trim tag.

Its a t-top car but trim tags says hardtop. The hidden vin matches dash vin. Came with an air ride suspension on the back and is still fully fictional. Has ten bolt rear end. I have a pic on here of it im my album.

Air suspension on the back - do you mean air shocks?
Most common brand for the period was Gabriel Hy-Jackers, white casing/tubes.
Delco marketed the same, aqua in color, Monroe's were yellow.
T-tops were an option, dealers felt the need to accessorize since the horsepower rating was in the dirt...
Nice Camaro.

Re: Newbie with a 79 Z28 and need trim tag help.

Thanx yall, yes it has air shocks, i didn't notice it till i was cleaning out the trunk one day and found the fill valve and air'd it up. i was told by a previous 79 camaro t-top owner that the t-tops don't look like factory t-tops but was probably done at the dealership because someone wanted a t-top n they prolly didn't have one available. what are the chances of that?

Re: Newbie with a 79 Z28 and need trim tag help.

Your trim tag says its a T-Top car, so they are factory. I don't think a 70 wiring harness will work.

Re: Newbie with a 79 Z28 and need trim tag help.

If you need a harness I would personally recommend a Painless wiring harness. I got the universal 28 circuit GM keyed column harness for my 81 Z, part number 10201 if I remember correctly, and it is awesome to say the least. Check E-Bay. I found it 80 dollars cheaper there.

Re: Newbie with a 79 Z28 and need trim tag help.

everything i have read says it just a 8.5 inch 10 bolt. There sure are alot of different variations with the GM 31, and 1254333. If it happens to be the factory rear end, then it is 3.42 with a standard transmission or like 2.41 with an auto. They made that rear end number from 1964-96 so it is hard to say
