1971 SS 396 LS3 Cam suggestion

As the title shows I am looking for cam suggestions for my 1971 ls3 396 engine. the engine is all numbers matching parts with the addition of headers and msd 6al kit. The cam that is currently in the engine has unfortunately gone flat so I am trying to figure out what the best cam option for me is. I want to get something more modern so I was looking into hydraulic rollers! What I was wondering is whats the best cam that i can get for this engine the way it is now power and drive ability wise. I want something that will work well with this practically stock ls3 396 but also give me a nice power gain since I am going through the labor of replacing it in the first place. I guess let me know what yalls experiences with the hydraulic rollers are and if their are any that are really spectacular and outstanding that yall like give me a link or a part number so i can check them out and start ordering . Also this may be a dumb question but also while going through this process is it necessary to change to a full roller rocker arm or will my roller tip rocker arms work fine with the new cam?

Thank you guys and I appreciate yalls help!

With out knowing your compression ratio, heads, trans, rear end, etc it's hard to make a recommendation. I would call one of the tech lines of a Cam vendor like Comp Cams.

This will not be a cheap endeavor as you will have to retro-fit roller lifters etc. None of that is cheap.

If your Hydraulic. I would definitely suggest looking at the XM 278H-10 from Com Cams and run their 925 Springs.

Get nothing that comes from Comp that says flat tappet as you'll have flat lobes.

Buy quality, buy CRANE
