Might buy a 79...

I have a couple of 67s at the moment, a friend has offered me a 79 Z28, I have never had a second gen before so would like to know if there are any thing to watch out for that are specific to these.

The car has been looked after and I have seen it many times, seems very clean and original.

Link to the advert below, price is in UK Pounds but I would be having a deal with him so don't take too much notice of the price in the advert, its been for sale for a long time but not sold yet, I think the price is too high and our location is very rural and out of the way for most English buyers who seem afraid to travel more than 50 miles to do a deal !

Any input gratefully received !

Re: Might buy a 79...

Seems steep but its GB so it will bring a premium. In the states you could get something like it for under $8000.00 usd I think. Ive seen some nice 77-79 all original Z's on CL with under 40,000 miles for around $9-12,000.00.

The biggest thing is rust on the rear frame and the floors.

If you like it and its not a mess its go for it, its all about enjoying a drive, these are much different driving than the first gens

It is all about the purpose of the purchase. To buy it and enjoy it for years to come or fix and flip it? It becomes a personal decision you have to think about.

Re: Might buy a 79...

It would be a "own for a few months and flip" car. I have pretty much decided its too much money anyway.

The deal was for one of my 67s and cash my way but the deal would need me to sell this for a profit once I am done having fun with it.

I don't think the UK market for a red on red 79 is strong enough to get me a break even let alone a profit !

Was the car repainted? It seems to be missing all the z28 graphics. Or could you order one without it.
