Has anyone made any purchases from Rockauto.com

I am just curious if anybody has purchased any parts from rockauto.com and if so did you having issues with them in regards to pricing or getting the right parts shipped to you etc.

After looking at the prices it's hard to believe how inexpensive they are and was just wondering if the old saying is " if it's too good to be true, it's too good to be true".

Yes, for my late model vehicles. Not for my old cars. No problems. They have different quality levels for many parts. I don't buy the lowest quality if higher is available.

I agree totally, good prices but you have to know what manufacturer has the best quality. I saved a bundle buying Timken bearing hubs for my trailblazer.

I buy from them often. Made a few returns with no problems. They have some 1st gen parts as well.

Re: Has anyone made any purchases from Rockauto.com

Rockauto has brand name products like Dorman, Delco, Dayco, Gates, etc so you just need to be sure the part numbers are right. Their prices are good. I picked up a couple of AIRTEX 4V1053 B28 high-perf vacuum advances from them real cheap. They have an easy website that drills down to the parts breakdown of the car you're doing.

Re: Has anyone made any purchases from Rockauto.com

I recommend Rock Auto, I use them a lot here in England to ship me parts from the US, they are fast to send and use a decent service to deliver so I am not waiting ages. The website even allows me to prepay the UK tax so I don't have to wait for UK customs to rummage about in my boxes and charge me a random price in tax.
I use them for the Chevy Astro I have and the two Camaros.

Go for it, one of the better online companies in my opinion.

I don't think that you can go wrong with Rock Auto. I've used them many times and have been very satisfied with ship time, product, and you just can't beat their prices. You also have the ability to save on shipping charges buy seeing if you can get all items from the same warehouse.

I've purchased well over a $1000 worth of parts from rock auto.( newer cars) Very satisfied.
Shipping can add up when your order comes from multiple wearhouses.
i.e. Wearhouses A, or B... So watch that when you're comparing prices.

Same here. RockAuto has never disappointed me. Super fast shipping and always the correct part. That's providing you do the leg work as to part numbers and same shipping points. I like that they have alternate mfg's with cheapo to best choices for most items. Bought modern stuff as well as internal GM generic parts for my Camaro.

Re: Has anyone made any purchases from Rockauto.com

I use RockAuto regularly. Most of the time there are no issues. Getting ready to fine out how the return works. I bought all three belts (Gates) for my 68 El Camino, and all three are incorrect. Also bought exhaust gasket donuts, and both were too large, although the heat riser gasket was the right size. Anyway, considering the thousands I have spent there in the last few years, there have be relatively few mistakes. We maintain or help maintain 15 cars, so always getting something.

Shipping on small orders is a bit high. Best advice is to make a list of all the parts you need for an upcoming project and get them all at once. Even then, some are drop shipped from other locations, so you may still get dinged on shipping.

Re: Has anyone made any purchases from Rockauto.com

The only time I don't get parts from Rock Auto is if they just don't have it, if I need it right away, or if I can find it cheaper on Amazon. Also when doing work for friends I'll usually build a shopping cart on there and email it to them so they can order the parts. Have only had a couple of problems, both times related to packing. They shipped out replacement with shipping label for the return. Google "rock auto discount" as they always have a 5% off code.

Sign up for the email discount codes as I'm not sure our Team Camaro code is working any longer. But I buy from them all the time for all my vehicles including the Z11.
