I never liked the tube molding that came with the 79 Camaro so in 98, when I had the car re-painted, I had the posts removed and made flat with the body.
I instructed the body man to make the rough rocker panel paint ... oh so common back then but he messed it up in should have been not the same shiny color with dimples not a rough paint job like this.
Move forward 15 years later ... I bought a set of full rockers from a 73 model year.
Since I was missing the posts I used the clips and sheet metal screws to install the rocker channels they need to spring in an out ... do it level and even.
**I got lucky here because I had indents from the posts
Then clip in the Rocker you might have to use a soft rubber hammer or the palm of you hand.
Then use the supplied screws to lock in the panel ... and center it before making it permanent:
