Fuel Tank Question

I just purchased a 72 Camaro and am not yet familiar with all of the specifics of this car. I am about to replace my fuel tank and trying to figure out if my car has EEC or not. I want to make sure which tank I have before I purchase it. Please see pictures. Also on my tank the float is not part of the sending unit, it is located in the middle of the tank on its own (also shown in a pic). All of the reproduction tanks I have seen have the float being part of the sending unit. I was wondering if this tank originally belonged to a different car, or maybe the float was added to the tank by someone (the sending unit does not have a float attached at all). Any help or thoughts with this is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Fuel Tank Question

Evaporative Emission Control technology was required in California starting in 1971 and was on all GM cars in 72. The canister was often mounted up front.
The gas cap would be a non venting one. This might help you trace the lines to the canister. My 72 Impala had one.

I believe my car did have the canister up front. Thanks for the info.
