Thumbs down 1970 camaro rear differntial

Put a 76 rear differential in my 70, everything was identical until I went to install driveshaft, the rear yoke is different, i'm hearing I need to cut the driveshaft an inch and use a 1310-3R U joint, can anyone help?

Re: 1970 camaro rear differntial

You are correct. Rear pinion yoke is a S44/3R most likely but without any pictures I can't tell for sure. Yoke has inside clips as opposed to outside ones on your previous? I've been through this. Swapped out my 70 8.2 rear for a 8.5 and it came with the 3R yoke. Went ahead and the driveshaft was a smidge too long. I could install it but it only had about 1/2" of play, if that. You could try swapping the yokes but be careful you don't overtighten.
